I am a writer and editor. I am currently writing a novel set in Cambridge. My first novel, The Bookstore, was originally published by Simon & Schuster in the U.S. and is now available in six languages.

Please use the contacts page to get in touch with me. I edit literary and academic work in the arts and humanities - this can range from rigorous copy-editing to simple proof-reading. The cost to read, edit and comment upon an initial three or four pages of writing (1000 words) is £65.00 or $82 or €76, with a maximum of a week's turnaround.

I am published by Simon & Schuster in America, Bloomsbury in the UK and the Commonwealth, Garzanti in Italy, City Editions in France, Juritzen Forlag in Norway, The House of Books in Holland and by Sonsuz in Turkey.

I was born in Manchester and educated at Oxford University (Trinity College), and St Andrews University, Scotland. I also hold a post-graduate diploma in journalism from City University, London, for which I was given a scholarship by The Guardian. I lived in New York for a few years and now live in Cambridge.

In my 'spare time' I paint. Some of the pictures are in the gallery on this site, and some are for sale.
